Nina Schneider

Nina Schneider was born in Salzburg, Austria and grew up in Aachen, Germany. She studied acting, voice and dance at the Musical Theatre Class at the Vienna Conservatory where she graduated in 1995.

 

She performed leading roles in plays and musicals such as "Amalia" in “She Loves Me”, "Janet" in "The Rocky Horror Show", "Lina" in "Singin' in the Rain", "Julia" in "Es war die Nachtigall", "Mme Lavoisier" in "Oxygen", and "The Girl" in "The Seven Year Itch".

 

Nina took scriptwriting classes with Vivien Bronner at Drehbuchforum Wien and worked for BBC Radio in North Yorkshire.

She holds a BSc (Hons) in Social Sciences and Politics from The Open University, Newcastle, UK.

 

In 2005, Nina won the GEMA Stiftung scholarship for lyricicsts which included a writing workshop with Edith Jeske and Thomas Woitkewitsch.

 

Recently, Nina Schneider has written the authorized German translation of "Closer Than Ever" by Richard Maltby & David Shire as well as lyrics for animated TV series including Disney's "Higglytown Heroes".

 

In Berlin, she wrote book and lyrics for "Das Newsical" I and II, a series of short musicals based on current newspaper articles, produced by composer Paul Graham Brown.

 

Nina’s first collaboration with Johannes Glück was “Das Greingold", an original musical comedy produced in 2002. She wrote the book, contributed lyrics and co-produced the CD recording.

Work in progress: “crescendo”, a new musical by Nina Schneider (book & lyrics) and Johannes Glück (lyrics & music).
